LIVIN´LARGE
It's not what it seems.
Livin' Large, Santiago Taccetti
Ego Gallery
This is a time of the year in which we understand more than ever what it means to live above our possibilities, dominated by a collective madness that surpasses us, drags us and seems to null our will: we live to have more, an infinite more that leaves us permanently unsatisfied.
Santiago Taccetti presents through a critical posture towards advertising that foments this "way of life", a confrontation between image and material. The artist nourishes himself of appropriations of stereotypes and icons taken from magazines and Internet and undresses them of all their cromatisim, leaving their fundamental message silenced. He creates his works with trick materials, or rather, materials that are false, unethical towards the world they represent, cheap materials that only simulate, sheetrock, contact paper, as well as other humble materials like paper, pencil and ball point pens in mural installation and paintings.
